American actress Brie Larson has addressed the recent sexual harassment allegations surrounding a major Hollywood nonprofit film organization.
The actress, musician and director issued a statement Thursday, thanking the women who came forward with their stories of harassment regarding members of Cinefamily film organization based in Los Angles.
“First, I would like to thank the brave survivors who spoke up ― I believe you... The allegations at Cinefamily are upsetting to me personally, both as an advocate for sexual assault survivors and a member of the community,” she wrote, adding that Cinefamily should be a safe and welcoming community.
Larson sits on the advisory board of the accused Cinefamily.
Recently, an anonymous email to Cinefamily accused the vice president of the board of directors, and the executive managing director of Cinefamily of sexually harassing and abusing multiple younger female staff members.
“Shadie and Hadrian exploit the eagerness of young female hopefuls to feed their own sexual needs,” the email read, adding that, “These are not the only illegal activities this nonprofit organization engages in, but they are the most inexcusable.”
Despite the defense coming from the US actress, the allegations leveled against the film entity are yet to be falsified.
